Job Opportunity: Financial Controller (Part-time)
Location: Bideford Foodbank (some remote working permitted by agreement)
Hours: 2-3 days per week, depending on work requirements

We are looking for an organised, reliable, and values-driven individual to run the financial
operations of Northern Devon Foodbanks (seven currently operated), helping us continue
our mission. As Financial Controller you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial
records, supporting budget management and working closely with our charity team and
trustees. You will bring structure and clarity to our financial processes, enabling us to
operate effectively and sustainably.
Key Areas of Work and Responsibilities
● Maintain and reconcile financial recording using accounting software (Xero)
● Import banking transactions for manual reconciliation
● Process Gift Aid Claims
● Manage grant/restricted income and associated expenditure
● Assist with expense claims
● Prepare monthly management accounts for the team and trustees
● Support preparation of annual accounts for independent examination
● Monitor cash flow and budget tracking, especially of restricted funds
Essential Criteria:
● Level 4 AAT qualification or above
● Proven experience as a bookkeeper, ideally in a non-profit/charity
● Proficiency with accounting software (ideally Xero)
● Proficiency with Excel and manipulating data using filters
● Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
● Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
● Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
Desirable Criteria:
● Familiarity with charity reporting requirements (Charity Commission)
● Experience working with remote teams e.g. branch managers of Foodbanks
Pay and Terms:
● £25.000 – £28,000 pa pro rata, depending on experience and circumstances
● Remote working for up to up to 1 day per week, depending on work requirements
