What’s in a food parcel?

Our foodbank provides from 3 -7 days of nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food.
In addition all our distribution centres offer hygiene and sanitary products as appropriate.
Some of our centres also offer fresh and frozen food when available.

The Northern Devon Foodbank and The Trussell Trust have worked with nutritionists to ensure food parcels contains sufficient nutrition for 3 -7 days worth of healthy, balanced meals for individuals and families.

A typical food parcel includes:

  • Cereal
  • Soup
  • Tinned meat and fish
  • Pasta/Rice
  • Tinned tomatoes/Pasta sauce
  • Lentils, beans and pulses
  • Tinned vegetables
  • Tea/coffee
  • Tinned fruit
  • Biscuits
  • UHT milk
  • Fruit juice
  • Snacks

Dietary requirements

Our foodbank can usually adapt your food parcel to meet your dietary needs, for example, gluten free, halal or vegetarian. When you arrive at the foodbank centre, a volunteer will chat to you about any special dietary requirements you may have.
